My son is great at remembering things. Teachers take advantage of this and give him rhymes the day before the holiday. They say who gets sick – he will replace them, because a poem to learn it in an hour is not a problem for him.
So this year he got the role of a cucumber. I learned about it after work. I bought a green T-shirt and matching fabric on the way. Came home, made a construction on the head of green cardboard and wire, and then rushed to sew shorts.
The father had to leave in the morning with the baby. Since he wouldn’t be able to dress the baby himself, I wrote him detailed instructions. I explained to him how to fix the cucumber mask and had all the fixings ready.
Literally in the morning I got a phone call from the whole kindergarten teacher in tears saying that Kolobok was sick, the main role was canceled, the cucumber mask. When I asked her what to do with the costume, she hung up. Can Kolobok be green? The answer is clear to everyone!
I dialed the man and informed him. My husband was happy, he said he could handle everything himself. He just had two friends who are employees of the surgical department, so such a super team will not be difficult to cope with the task.
My intuition failed me at this point, I calmed down and went to work. On top of that I was also left on night duty. I called my husband, but my son picked up. The kid reported that they had bought a white T-shirt, Dad was cutting something out of yellow cardboard, Uncle Philip was in the kitchen, and my son was staggering around laughing.
An hour later, the son reported that he was going to bed, Dad was hiccuping, Uncle Jack was painting a bobblehead face, and Uncle Philip was looking for a jar of pickles. At midnight, the man said the costume was almost ready, but there were a few nuances. The assistants went to bed, and he himself went to the bathroom.
Now for the nuances.
Uncle Philip accidentally glued a crooked Kolobok to the costume. When my husband tried to save the masterpiece, the shirt ripped to shreds. To save the costume, I had to sew it into the green T-shirt with medical silk. But the result was perfect, even made him smile with all 30 teeth, two more were not enough white paper.
My husband assured me that I could be absolutely relaxed and not worry about it. Told me the beloved story under the snores of his companions, tired to work on the creation of a festive masterpiece for his son. Of course, doubts took hold of me.
I asked the chief doctor, because I felt something bad. At the children’s party I was only 15 minutes late, but the laughter that came from the assembly hall, I will never forget. I opened the door and saw Kolobok trying to make a leap.
The huge yellow face that ended practically at my son’s ankle was visibly squinting-eyes literally scattered in different directions. The stitches of medical silk resembled the wrinkles on the forehead of a hero of fairy tales, a testament to his wisdom of life and a difficult life. It was missing, as it turned out, exactly two front teeth, so I was rash, saying that among the 30 available empty seats, no one will not notice.
The enthusiastic life-goer with a complicated fate reminded me of a convict with alcohol addiction. The father for some reason decided to wear a cucumber hat too, probably, to complete the image.
And then the son began to tell his poem: “Where else will you see such a hero?” The audience cried with laughter after these words, and the teacher left the assembly hall.
