A friend of mine had a baby. Her husband was over the moon because he dreamed of having a son. My in-laws, on the other hand, had no reaction to the joyous event.
They had a granddaughter from their eldest daughter, who was bathed in grandparents’ love. Why did they take the birth of a grandchild so coldly? A friend tried not to get discouraged or think about it. She hoped that things would soon get better.
Over the years the situation had only worsened. Her husband’s parents always looked for everything wrong with their grandson and always criticized him. They adored their granddaughter, although the girl was still a bully.
When the boy Robert grew up and was going to go to college, his sister was already a mother of twins. A single mother in her nineteen years. Then the grandparents switched to their great-grandchildren – they gave them all their love and attention.
Robert, on the other hand, heard nothing but reproaches for himself. His grandparents taught him about life and told him that the boy was too independent and aloof. When Robert refused to babysit his sister’s children, his parents refused to talk to their grandson at all. They now meet only with their son, and they completely ignore their daughter-in-law and grandson.
How can you treat your only grandson like that? A descendant of the family? It has come to the point that Robert wants to take his mother’s surname so that he has nothing to do with his unfortunate relatives.
What is the reason for this dislike?
