Cheeky old ladies on public transport

Ever since I was young, my mother taught me to give way to pregnant women, small children, and the elderly. I did not change this principle until I was about 45, but now I don’t want to. And my health isn’t what it used to be. I am past the age when I could easily pass a number of stops while standing. Even if they ask me to give up a seat, I refuse.

One day I was taking the bus back from work. It was a very stressful day, and the director ruined my mood. Transport was half empty, to my surprise. Suddenly, at the bus stop, a woman and her child walked by. It was probably her grandson, as she looked about 10 years older.

The woman’s grandson sat down next to me. His grandmother stood beside me and looked at me with a pitiful look. The boy was fidgeting and getting his boots all over me. Then he started begging for the window.

– Let him go, at least he’ll go quietly. Better yet, move over so I can sit next to him,” said the young lady.
– I’m sorry, but I’m not going to change seats. There are plenty of empty seats. Your grandson is your problem. He could have sat you down, he couldn’t have sat himself down. He’s a big boy,” I said.
– Is it hard for you? I guess you don’t have any grandchildren, since you’re such a greyhound. I’m standing in front of her, and she opens her mouth to me, – said the passenger.

I wanted to send her away, but decided to be polite:
– Woman, please shut your mouth. There are seats available, even double seats. Move over there with your grandson and watch the scenery together.

When people came in at the next stop, she grabbed her grandson by the scruff of the neck and moved over.

You know, these situations happen a lot, but you have to remember the basic truth that no one owes anyone anything. Sometimes young people can be less healthy than the same pensioners. Be sensible!
