Completely annoyed, Susan washed the dishes angrily. She did not like to wash dishes, but she had to do it. And after the holidays there was so much dishes… Her husband used to promise to help wash the dishes after the holidays, but then he stopped doing it. And why would she do that? And why does she need a husband who just lays on the couch and does not help her one bit? And all her requests are only answered with a sneer:
– And I only got married so that someone would do the dishes for me.
Susan was very offended by such jokes of her husband, but she could not change. Only sometimes she shouted back at him:
– Of course, you do not need a wife, and the cleaner!
And lately Susan began to notice that the skin on her hands had become dry. Susan always washed dishes with gloves on, but the water still got on her skin. She had to see a specialist. The diagnosis was made. And now what to do, it is not clear. When I had dermatitis, I couldn’t wash or clean anything with household chemicals. At least for the period of treatment. Susan walked from the doctor and thought that she wouldn’t tell her husband, he would joke about it again.
At home Susan told her son and her husband that she was not allowed to wash anything for the time being, not even dishes. She suggested she make a special schedule so that there would be no accumulation of dishes in the house. The first two days the dishes were washed somehow, but not all of them, just a few plates, but after a few days it became clear that none of the men wanted to do the dishes.
To all the comments about the dishes not being washed in the evening, the husband replied that he would wash them in the morning. And the next day, the husband ran off to work, and the dishes remained unwashed until the evening. Susan’s son tried to follow the schedule at first, but he wasn’t very good at doing the dishes – either he poured too much detergent or clogged the sink with leftover food. And once he poured water all over the kitchen, so we had an hour to fix all the consequences of his “help.
So Susan thought she should buy a dishwasher. She did not have a lot of money to spare, but it would have been enough for a simple machine. She went straight to the store, made an appointment with a specialist. On the same day the machine was installed. Susan was very happy! Her dream had come true. Now she did not have to waste time with the dishes. And the dishes were so clean after the machine! But her husband, when he came home from work, immediately began to grumble:
– And what is this?
– Don’t you see? A dishwasher.
– I see it. It must be expensive.
– Not really. But we can’t do without it now.
– We were going to buy a TV, and you spent all the money.
– I thought my health was more important than the TV.
Susan was about to burst into tears.
– You should have told me, and then you would have made such purchases. And how did my mother live without a dishwasher! And my grandmother even managed to wash dishes with cold water. My mother was right. You are such a lazy bum!
Susan turned away silently and cried softly. What can you say when your husband thinks of you like that?
