I asked my daughter-in-law where the eggs for the pie had gone, and she was accused of greed! And she lives in my apartment, by the way.

It is not for nothing they say that it is those close to us who hurt us the most. Although the family, but the relationship as if between strangers. Any family event turns into a scandal. And the reason for it can be any little thing! Unfortunately, there are a lot of such families.

“Telling the whole story. I started baking a pie: I definitely had all the necessary products for it. Getting busy with the dough, it was time to add the eggs. I open the fridge, and the eggs are gone! They were there this morning. I asked my daughter-in-law, saying that I had left them in there especially for the pie. But her answer just shocked me! I was terribly uncomfortable. I had to take a sedative.

I’m not 17 years old anymore, I’ve never lived in luxury. I’m lucky I inherited an apartment. I don’t know how I would have got out without a place to live. But now we live here as two families with a shared kitchen. We try to be one family, and we kind of have everything in common. We don’t share the groceries or the shopping.

I had to raise my son alone. He got married. I decided to let them live with me. It’s a two-bedroom house after all. We’ll manage somehow. My daughter-in-law came to live with me, and now we live together. My son recently had a daughter, and I became a grandmother.

Basically, we live not so bad. My son has to work hard at work to get bonuses. While the possibility of living separately they do not. I wanted to exchange my two-bedroom into two one-bedroom, but even for that money is needed to pay extra. It is not profitable.

Since I am retired, I try to save money on everything, I go to the market, looking for the cheapest place. Young people have no time to do that. We quickly realized that we don’t really like living together. Our views are completely different, and the rhythm of life is different. And then there was this story about the groceries. All the time we have misunderstandings and disagreements in everyday life. They can leave dishes unwashed, put the wrong frying pan or eat something that was set aside for a holiday.

Here we go this time. The pie is not the right time for me in their opinion. I need eggs and I don’t have any. And why did I decide to ask my daughter-in-law? She was immediately offended. Like, is she so greedy that I’ll deny my own granddaughter a couple of eggs? I got angry and called my daughter-in-law stupid. Why would she think that of me? She ended up shouting that she would soon buy a separate refrigerator so I wouldn’t have to worry about my groceries.

That doesn’t scare me. I have enough of my pension, and I’ll buy my own groceries. What kind of attitude is that? When I was young, I lived in a dorm room for a long time. We never had such scandals. We always shared what we had. And everyone was a stranger. And here family people!

Is it really normal? Is it okay to have separate meals when you live together? It’s okay that groceries are more expensive at the store near the house. But family meals bring people closer together. This way, we’re completely alienated. Is this a normal family relationship? I think my daughter-in-law just wants to distance herself from me. And this is for the fact that she lives in my apartment!
