A friend’s daughter climbed into my bag while I was drinking coffee in the kitchen

Here’s the situation: you stopped by your friend’s house for coffee and were left without your documents and money. You just left your bag in the hallway and were hanging out in the kitchen, not paying attention to your friend’s 4-year-old daughter.

The little girl was playing in her room. Why distract her? And then tonight, you have a flight out. Right from his girlfriend you rush to the airport, starting to look for your passport and wallet … But they are not!

You miss your flight, book a ticket for tomorrow, hoping to find it as soon as possible. And then your friend calls you and says that her daughter got into her bag and took it all out. She apologizes, of course. But how would you react?

Should she pay to buy a new ticket or is it solely your fault because you left the bag in the hallway or didn’t check the contents right away? It didn’t happen to me, it happened to an acquaintance of mine. But she came to me for advice, and I didn’t even know what to say to her.

I would have offered financial help if I were this mom. But apparently, there is no sense of adequacy there.

I’m ashamed to think that my child would go through someone else’s bag. Yes, I would be begging for forgiveness and reimbursement. However, my acquaintance’s friend decided that it wasn’t her fault.

Personally, I always leave my bags in the hallway, now I ponder that. And it’s stupid to check the contents, so you show disrespect to the owners.

What would you do?
