Kicked the cheeky daughter-in-law out, and I don’t feel guilty

My son grew up very quickly. Before I knew it, he was dating girls and falling in love. Only his first experience was sad. Then he went to serve in the army. He came back and said he wanted to get married.

I wasn’t very happy about that news, because he was still very young. I was not against marriage, but I tried to explain that it was a very serious step. I saw my daughter-in-law – she seemed like a nice girl. She was respectful to me, she was polite. In general, I gave up and gave the okay.

After the wedding, the kids moved in with me. I have a big house, so there was enough space for everybody. I was not against living together, because after my husband died I felt lonely. And I’m at work 24 hours a day – we do not cross paths.

Soon my daughter-in-law became pregnant. I was waiting for the appearance of a granddaughter like a miracle. Except that Victoria has changed a lot over this time. She stopped doing anything around the house, was rude, and thought she was the boss. My daughter-in-law just ate and watched soap operas. I was like a maid. After work I immediately got up at the stove and started washing, cooking, and cleaning everything.

When my granddaughter was born, I was over the moon. My son had to get another job, because he needed more money. My daughter-in-law still didn’t do anything. I felt like I was a workhorse. Besides household chores, she dumped her granddaughter on me. She lay there with her phone and completely ignored the baby’s cries.

At night my granddaughter also slept with me. My daughter-in-law didn’t want to take her granddaughter for a walk; she found it hard to get the stroller down. I tried to hint to her that it’s time to stop being lazy, but she wouldn’t even listen to me.

More than once I explained that it was hard for me to cope with everything alone, but did anyone hear me? The piles of dishes, the dirt, the laundry, the granddaughter who was growing up on her own. My patience snapped one day. One day I came home from work and found the usual mess. I began to clean up and prepare dinner, and then my daughter-in-law came in from the street:

– Feed her. I want to take a shower.
– I haven’t made dinner yet.
– But she’s hungry! – my daughter-in-law yelled.
– Why haven’t you cooked anything all day? Why didn’t you clean up? I came home from work, and what have you been doing? Couldn’t you make pasta?

My daughter-in-law got offended and went to her mother. My son is now demanding that I apologize to her. She told everyone that I kicked her out. But I’m not going to apologize, I don’t feel guilty.
