Once my mother-in-law came to visit me in the hospital. But not to check on me, but to reproach me for abandoning my family.

I do not like to remember this episode, too much pain associated with this stage of life.

Nothing foretold trouble. We were going to the mall. Then we stopped at a coffee shop to get something to eat. My son was nine months old at the time. I bought him some cottage cheese and started feeding him. For some reason he refused to eat, so I had to finish it. Literally immediately I felt bad – we packed and went home.

My husband put me on pills, but nothing helped. I was getting worse and worse, so I had to call an ambulance. The doctors suspected that I had appendicitis and insisted on hospitalization. I was very afraid to go alone, but my husband had to stay with my son.

I was worried if he would be able to cope as the baby was still being breastfed. He was also out of formula. I called my father and asked him to bring the formula. He told me he wasn’t going anywhere at night. The worst part is that my parents didn’t even ask why I was in the hospital or how I was feeling. That’s the kind of support I have.

In general, after the ultrasound and tests, the doctors took me to the operating room. From them I learned that I will lie in a hospital bed for at least a week. My husband constantly called and complained that my son is capricious. This was the first time he was alone with my son, and none of the relatives wanted to help him.

None of them came to visit us at home or me at the hospital. Three days later, my mother-in-law arrived. She babysat my son and took care of the house. She even came to visit me in the hospital once. But not to check on me, but to reproach me for abandoning my family.

How could a sick person who had recently undergone an operation say such things? She wouldn’t let me call my husband, she said I was disturbing their peace. And I just wanted to hear my own voice, because I also needed support. We had always been together before, so it was hard for me to be apart.

I thanked my mother-in-law for coming to my rescue. I made certain conclusions about my parents-apparently I was an orphan. Of course it’s a shame that it happened this way, but you don’t choose your parents. Some people have a strong bond, and some have one, like me. I’m glad I’m with my husband and son now, they’ll never leave me.
