My husband and I have lived together for 10 years. We have a great family, many would envy. Lately, however, conflicts have started to arise. When we had children, we had to learn to live differently.
One day I noticed that the kids were missing toys. And expensive, not just any little things. I first questioned the children, searched the entire apartment, but the toys were not found. Mysticism, or what? Even my husband was looking for them – no result.
My mother-in-law often comes to visit us. She loves to play with her grandchildren. Usually we have coffee with her, and then she plays in the nursery. But this time she just popped into the kids’ room for a minute and went home.
That’s when I noticed another toy was missing. At first I questioned the housemates, but they all said that they played with something else. And then my son remembered that grandma was holding the toy in her hands, and then she put it in a bag and left. My husband made the decision to talk to his mother.
A couple of days later we had guests over, and we forgot about it. We only remembered when my husband’s mother went home early. Another of my children’s toys was sticking out of her bag.
I demanded an explanation.
– I want to wash them! – she said.
I realized that was a lie. I did manage to get to the bottom of it. She admitted that she was bringing toys for her sister-in-law’s son. They say she has no money for such gifts, so she pleases the baby.
We talked to her, and she promised not to do that again. However, the toys keep disappearing. My husband has already been in a scandal with my mother, stealing and giving them away.
It got to the point that the children have noticed. They asked my grandmother not to come, because she steals their toys. Now when my mother-in-law wants to come visit, we are looking for a million excuses to refuse.
Well… it’s her own fault!
