Have lived with my husband for thirty! There’s everything but happiness

After thirty years of life together, not all spouses are ready to divorce. Especially since we are talking about people over fifty. But there are exceptions to every rule. Today we will devote our article to just such an exception. Do people become happier after a coveted divorce?

Marriage lasting 30 years.

When I turned 19, I jumped into a marriage. My husband was 25 years old at the time. Young and inexperienced, I wasn’t yet thinking ahead, but living for the day. We were married for 30 years, but alas, I can’t say that we were particularly happy during this time.

Our children are adults now, and we have families of our own. But for the last decade, I have not been living, but rather existing. Our family has become something terrible. William and I don’t really communicate. Each of us is his own head. Sometimes all day we don’t say a single word to each other. I make breakfast, he eats, and silently retreats to the couch to watch TV.

For many years I have been thinking about divorce, but all my girlfriends look at me like I am crazy. Like, where to go at this age, for what? Do I need a lonely old age? After all, I never lived alone. I always had a husband by my side. With him I grew up. But now what?

I used to talk to William, and I wanted to change things. Only my husband kept turning everything into a joke and didn’t want to change anything for our own family. I ended up getting annoyed at everything, no matter what he did. I was uncomfortable with his company.

Now I understand that I should have divorced him a long time ago. But I dared only now, and I’m almost fifty! My children did not judge me. Took it as an adult and supported. And William… I don’t think he cares.

I have been a free woman for six months now. Now my life is divided into two parts: before and after the divorce. I live solely for my own pleasure. I do not deny myself the little things that bring joy and make me a happy person. Now I can say that I have experienced a completely different life.

I even have a desire to be creative! I have finally been able to dedicate time to baking. A few days ago I finished a beautiful sweater for my granddaughter. Now I visit my children and grandchildren often, and the mood is great.

I’m sure it’s not too late to start over. It doesn’t matter how old you are! This is a whole new phase in my life. I know I’m definitely going to enjoy it. Before, I wasn’t so sure of the right thing to do.

I don’t miss my husband at all, even though we sometimes call each other. It’s funny, but he’s more interested in me now than he was when he lived in the same house with me. It’s like the proverb says that we start to appreciate what we had only when we lose it.

Editor’s Tip.

Alas, there are many women who feel unhappy in their marriages. Not all of them decide to get a divorce. They live with the same person for so long that they begin to think that they will no longer be able to live on their own. Nonsense!

Many endure and do not dare to change their own lives. Naturally, in order to do so, they would have to leave their comfort zone and begin to act. But every year it becomes harder to do.

May today’s story serve as an inspiration for our readers to change their lives for the better. We are not asking everyone to rush into divorce. We just want everyone to feel free to fight for their happiness. Know that age cannot be a barrier to a new and happy life.
