I am a regular reader of yours and it amazes me how unpredictable a person’s fate can be. What doesn’t happen in this life happens.
But somehow my favorite topic is about real estate. Not even the topic itself, but the reasoning of our people. For example, a mother lives in a three-room apartment, she is satisfied with everything, her life is fine. And it’s okay that her children on the rented apartments or in communal flats with the family live. And mothers are so mean, they can even be called invaders or villains. In Soviet times, they were given apartments for free, they were given a lot of things back then. Here you have a separate apartment and you can live there as long as you want with your family. Completely free! There was more than enough square meters in the apartment for everyone.
But no one cares that her mother worked off this apartment. She even worked hard, she worked hard, and some time later, she privatized it. And in fact the children have nothing to do with her housing.
And besides, if the children are normal, then they don’t even think about taking their mother’s housing, or taking their share of her money. After all, they perfectly understand that their mother’s housing, if they treat her normally, will be given to them in due time anyway.
But modern young people are very often ready to go into conflict, begin to divide, exchange and take away the mother’s meters, and they do not care at all about the old woman.
But here they forget that the law of the boomerang will catch up with them sooner or later. I want to share with you one such story.
Not so long ago I lived next door to a modest and quiet older woman. At first we just said hello to her, but somehow got to talking. As it turned out, she was renting the apartment. At the time of the conversation the woman was almost sixty-five years old. She had a thirty-year-old daughter, who got married and had first one baby, and then the second soon after. At first the young couple rented an apartment, and after the birth of the firstborn they went to live with their mother.
As soon as the eldest child turned one year old, the daughter announced her second pregnancy. After the birth of the second baby, all the care for the first, as well as shopping, cleaning and cooking fell on the shoulders of the elderly mother. For the first six months, the mother bravely pulled the burden, and then, when her strength ran out, she told her daughter and son-in-law to cope somehow without her. Of course she did not refuse to cook and clean, but pulling huge bags from the store was beyond her strength. Then she also asked her children to help her pay the utility bills. The daughter and her family climbed up onto her mother’s neck and was not going to get off.
After this conversation, the daughter became very angry with her mother and told her parent that she had to help her, because while she was on maternity leave, it was very hard for her family. The mother helped as much as she could, but the daughter did not consider it help.
After a while, when the second baby was a little older, her mother told her daughter that she would keep a separate household from her family, and besides that they would now divide the utility bills into three equal parts – one to be paid by the mother and two by the daughter and her husband.
After that, the daughter stopped talking to her mother, she then said that she and her husband were planning to buy their own home, and therefore let her mother pay her money for her part, because in Soviet times she and her father also received an apartment on her.
The mother went to consult a lawyer, who confirmed that her daughter was absolutely right, and therefore the mother had no other choice but to sell the apartment and divide the money, if she did not have the necessary amount accumulated beforehand.
After selling the apartment, the money was divided equally. After that, the daughter and her family left to find happiness in the Orenburg region, and the mother bought herself a tiny one-room apartment.
But the daughter’s joy did not last long. Instead of buying a place to live, the daughter and her son-in-law stayed with his brother and decided to invest the money in the business, which crashed and burned.
When the autumn cold came, the daughter and her family went back. They came back without money, they did not have a place to live, they did not have a job or registration, and it took time to transfer the allowance back.
My son-in-law’s father and mother refused to help him because a few years ago they had given him a large sum of money, which would have been enough for his first mortgage payment, but instead of housing he had bought a car, and for some time the rest of the money was used to live the high life, they went to the sea. My son-in-law then got drunk and wrecked the car.
After her daughter and her family returned home, her mother let them into her own place, so she and her children wouldn’t have to sleep in other people’s houses.
After that, the mother only dreams of finding some old lady to look after, to have a place to live, or an old man to marry him, and then live out her life with him.
