I don’t want to live with my daughter’s family! I’ll tell you why.

My daughter and her family found themselves without a roof over their heads. After some accidents, their apartment became uninhabitable and needed repairs. Needless to say, my daughter and her family came to me.

It is clear that I had nowhere to go, so I took them in. However, after talking with my daughter and son-in-law, we decided that this was a forced measure and they would return to their apartment as soon as possible.

I have a wonderful daughter, and my son-in-law is no fool, so they were in complete agreement with me: the family is an independent body, and therefore all other people are alien elements for it. I say this quite seriously, and I will now explain exactly what my point of view is based on.

I have my own rhythm of life, which is strikingly different from that of my daughter and son-in-law. For example, while I can tolerate my daughter’s presence around me, my son-in-law is a complete stranger to me, but he also has a right to a private life. For example, it makes absolutely no sense to quarrel because of my habit of falling asleep while the TV is on, or because my daughter and son-in-law have decided to invite guests to our house. Everyone has his own requirements for order in the apartment, and so we do not need to quarrel because the dish is not washed in the sink. After all, such little things can ruin the most beautiful relationships.

In addition, we have completely different priorities when it comes to food. And what to say about situations when guests unexpectedly came to the house. Here without a showdown can not do without, as it is no secret that at such moments someone can be tempted by the delicacies of another. And hanging a lock on the fridge is not other than delirium.

For example, even a serious problem can become different schedules for rest and wakefulness, because of which it will have to tiptoe all the time. People are not too sensitive to other people’s sleep, and lack of sleep can become a trigger for increased irritability and headaches, which can be called a detonator. Sometimes one tiny spark may be enough to cause an explosion.

Other than that, I don’t want to evaluate the life of my daughter and her spouse. I’ve taught her everything I know since she was a child, but now I’m only willing to see what they’re willing to show me and I want to know more than they can tell me, and when you live with people in the same apartment it’s an impossible task.

And perhaps most importantly, I have to decide for myself what I can or want to help them with, and I want to do it of my own volition. And I also want to have time for myself
