Maria was already 60 years old. It was high time to retire, but she was in no hurry. She finished her shift that day, changed her clothes and went home. It was raining hard, but she didn’t have an umbrella. She pulled her bag over her head and headed for the bus stop. Suddenly, she heard a baby crying – and on the bench was a baby a few days old.
She picked up the package and began to soothe the baby. The woman ran back to work because the baby was soaked. She called an emergency pediatrician to examine the foundling.
– It was a boy. He was two weeks old. He’s a healthy baby. I don’t know why he was dumped there. You have to love and spoil a child like that,” the doctor said.
The woman decided to stay on night duty, she wouldn’t sleep anyway. Then the police arrived and a statement was needed. And all the time Maria was devoted to the child – she didn’t let him out of her arms.
Two hours later, the police squad returned with a young married couple. The girl was in tears and the boy could barely stand.
– Let’s see the foundling. Maybe he is ours, – said the girl.
They put on their robes and went to the children’s ward. She saw her son and burst into tears. The mother hugged him and wouldn’t let him go. Mary didn’t understand anything. Then the inspector explained everything to her:
– Sara and Robert were meeting in secret in front of her parents because they were against their relationship. If Sara’s parents simply accepted it, Robert’s mother was doing everything she could to break the potential daughter-in-law’s neck. When the boy was born, the boys thought their grandmother would soften and rejoice at the news. Unfortunately. The woman was convinced that Sarah had fattened the baby. She let the young parents go to the movies and took advantage of the situation herself, dropping the boy off under the maternity ward.
So that’s the whole story. Most likely, the boy will never see his grandmother again.
