Everything was fine. The baby was perfectly healthy according to the ultrasound. But it was a difficult birth. It was a girl, but a problem. So problematic that the doctors began to persuade me to refuse.
The girl was in an incubator. When her husband came to visit, the doctor in charge told him that the child could not live, it would be a burden. He thought for a long time and decided that it was better to refuse, not to spoil his life. I didn’t say anything – I was depressed.
But before I was discharged, I said that I would not give up my daughter. My husband packed his things and left. I returned with the baby to an empty flat. We wandered around hospitals and doctors, grasping at every opportunity. And there was a result.
Many mothers who also had sick children supported me. One day I met a man in hospital. He told me his story. His wife had left him for a young lover and they had no children, so he spent his days alone.
He looked at my sick daughter with such tenderness that tears came to my eyes. He helped me. With his advice, his connections, and his money. We became so close that soon we didn’t want to separate. We got married.
Now my daughter is almost healthy. She’s a master athlete. And we have another little boy in the family: a little son.
