Sometimes tough parenting is the only choice

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve really dreamed that I’d have the best wife and the cutest daughter. Yes, that’s not typical of a man, but there are male representatives like that. I got married when I was 27 years old, I was already firmly established on my feet, started my own business. I picked the right wife for myself – she was smart, educated, a lady with a law degree, and also very beautiful and well-mannered.

I was sure that with such a wife I would be just fine. Anyway, we lived together for 16 years. Over the years, our business has become very profitable. Living in full prosperity, we love each other. We have a daughter, she is 15 years old. It would seem what this child needs. She has two loving parents, we always give her maximum time, we buy her everything. She has the best clothes, gadgets, her own room, equipped to her liking. She has everything, unlike millions of other kids. What’s wrong with that?

Our daughter is just a creepy teenager. She doesn’t study at school, skips classes, is rude to teachers, smokes, and more than once has come home drunk and could barely stand on her feet. The last incident that I decided to take harsh measures was when she and two other girls beat a classmate to within an inch of her life. Like, because of a boy.

And what does she face in the future? Jail, a strict regime. In general, I had to deal with my daughter seriously. I’m from the countryside myself, I went there more than once to visit my family. But there’s no one there now. I know one family – there is a mother, a father who loves to drink, and seven children of different ages. So, they work from morning till night in the garden and with the cattle. The mother of the family does not drink, but she is a very strict woman. So I made a deal with her that I would give her a decent amount of money, and she would take my daughter to her mother. Immediately we agreed that if she deserved it, and she certainly deserved it, the woman has the right to flog her daughter, to set her on the path of truth.

I told my daughter that I would have to go to the village, so as not to initiate criminal proceedings for her behavior, she believed me, of course. My wife didn’t want to, but she agreed. There was no way out – our child was becoming a real monster.

Well, in that woman’s house my daughter had no mercy. She got up with all the children at cock crows, plowed in the garden, looked after the cattle, and lived in a house where the walls were torn and damp. More than once she tried to be rude to the lady of the house, but the latter was quick to take care of her. In a word, her daughter understood that what she had was something to be appreciated. Tell me that the child was traumatized. No. When I took her away from there, she hugged my wife and me and asked for forgiveness. Said she understood everything. Now she has a year of excellent grades, she behaves herself, stays home all night, she doesn’t drink or smoke. Who knows what would have happened if it weren’t for those harsh measures.
