A colleague asked me for my new dress. I made certain demands, and she immediately changed her mind

I recently received a bonus at work for successfully turning in a report. I decided to please myself and buy myself a beautiful dress. Especially since my mom was supposed to be an anniversary in two months.

So on Saturday I went to the big trade center. I went through almost everything, but I still could not find something I liked. I already thought I was leaving the store without a new dress. But then I accidentally went into one small department. There were only one dress. How beautiful they all were. Just gorgeous! True, and they were very expensive.

But we only live once. Besides, it was a prize! I have the right to please myself, after all!

I chose myself five dresses and went to the dressing room. Two dresses looked especially good on me. Anyway, with great difficulty, but I still managed to choose one dress. I paid five thousand for the dress and was about to go home.

But then I decided to have coffee. I bought a coffee and sat down on the bench to take a break. My colleague sat down next to me. We started to talk, and I bragged about my new clothes. My colleague really liked my dress.

– It’s very beautiful! Must be expensive? I can’t afford a dress like that. But I want it so much! Besides, I have to go to my sister’s wedding soon. I have nothing to wear.
– Don’t feel bad. There are lots of stores. You’re sure to find a dress that fits you and can afford it.

Then I finished my coffee, and we went our separate ways. When I got to work on Monday, my colleague came up to me. She told me about how she couldn’t find a dress that fit her. And then she said to me:

– Can’t you loan me your new dress? You and I are the same size. Just for one night.
– Are you serious? I actually bought it for my mom’s anniversary, too.
– What do you have to be sorry about? I’ll be very careful. If I soak it, I’ll wash it and it’ll be fine.

I was confused at first by such impudence. But then I managed to pull myself together. Of course, the request seemed to me very strange, as well as her behavior. But I quickly thought of what I had to do. I told my colleague this:

– Okay. I agree. I will help you. But on one condition. You write me a receipt. In it, you promise to return the dress as I give it to you. That is, the dress must not have traces of food, lipstick or deodorant on it. And it must have a normal smell. If anything is wrong with the dress, you’ll pay compensation. Triple the cost of the dress. If you agree, I’ll bring you the dress tomorrow.

My colleague didn’t expect me to do that. She smiled through her strength and immediately declined my offer. I think I did the right thing. Why should I be the one to give her the dress I bought myself?

I’m not greedy, but I won’t let anyone take advantage of me. My colleague is very sly: she wanted to save money, but she also wanted to look good at her sister’s wedding. But that’s not how it works. It didn’t work out for her.
