I’m going to have to agree with this! I think all cats are beautiful in their own way, but senior Scrappy is definitely a stand out for his unusual coat and markings.

When I wrote about Scrappy in 2008, he was 10 years old and living with his guardian angel, Laura of Toronto, Canada. At the time, there wasn’t a day that went by where she didn’t marvel at her cat’s unique coat pattern. “It really is amazing to see how his charcoal black fur has turned into shades of silver and white,” she told me back then. “He’s like a little snowy owl.”
David, Scrappy’s owner, describes how he met Scrappy:
“I was out for a walk one day when I saw a little tabby cat all alone. He was sitting on the curb and looked like he might be waiting for someone. I’m always friendly to cats, so I stopped to say hi. It turns out that this little guy – who we later named ‘Scrappy’ – had been abandoned by his previous family and was waiting for them to come back. But since they never did, I decided to take him home with me.”

Jasmine walks her readers through the everyday escapades of her beloved Scrappy, from playing tag to chasing birds. Jasmine also uses this as an opportunity to teach young children about acceptance and difference in a fun and relatable way.
