Betty the cat became a celebrity in her own right and even had her own Twitter account. Lyons noted that she was especially helpful during severe weather events when it was necessary to keep people calm. Betty would often lay down on top of the keyboard to get his attention, letting him know that everything was okay.
After a successful trial run, Lyons brought his new furry friend on as an occasional guest during the severe weather segments. And viewers loved it!
The videographer captured an adorable moment of a Weather Anchor being surprise-attacked by her pet cat, Betty. The director asked to see Betty during the weathercast, so the anchor hoisted her up for the camera. Suddenly, Betty sprung out from beneath the table and began attacking the anchorman’s arm! Luckily, he seemed to enjoy it and found it all quite humorous.
