When we couldn’t have a child, my husband and I decided to take him from the orphanage. A year later I learned some news that will soon turn my life upside down.

I met Oleg in the second year of university. It was love at first sight, and our relationship progressed rapidly. A few months later, he asked me to marry him and I accepted. We’ve been married for more than fifteen years now. And five years ago we decided that we wanted a child. For several years we made trip after trips to different hospitals to see different specialists with no results; however, none of us had any health problems that would impede us from conceiving a baby naturally.

We have become used to this and decided to take a child from a children’s home. We already have a son, Vadim, who is 4 years old; we are raising him as our own child. About a month ago, I began feeling bad systematically, and later went to the doctor about it. And the doctor told me that I am pregnant. Immediately I called my husband so that he could share this happy news with me, both of us.

I started feeling bad again around the time of our one-year anniversary, so I went to my doctor’s office for a woman’s consult. After the examination, I left the office and saw another pregnant girl. We talked and she told me that she was expecting twins. This conversation made me think – could I be having twins too?

I became nervous because I realized that at the age of 37 it would be difficult to care for three small children simultaneously. So, I asked my parents if there had ever been any cases of twins in our family. My mother calmed me down with her answer. There were no such cases in our family. Then, I asked my husband just to make sure, and he also said no such case had occurred in his family either

A while has passed, and I went for a routine check-up. Even so, I was anxious and waiting to see what the doctors would say. They told me to go into the room and they would come talk to me afterwards. The wait time felt really long.

And so, just the door opened and I heard from the doctor congratulations with twins.

I was obviously shocked. And for the first few minutes I couldn’t say a word. I was afraid, because on one hand I would have two children immediately, which is what I wanted, even better. But on the other hand, raising three kids at 37 will be very difficult. But nevertheless I hope that we can manage it together with my husband – at least we will try our hardest
