The resulting fire quickly engulfed the barn in which 14 Clydesdale horses were housed. Macon, who was inside the house at the time of the lighting strike, ran outside and began pounding on the door of the barn to alert th…e horses to the danger.
Macon’s mother Tracy Martin said “I don’t think any of us would be here if it wasn’t for him” as she recounted how her son had run into burning buildings before.
The quake rattled windows and furniture in homes throughout Macon, but caused no significant damage or injuries.
“Macon has not had an earthquake like this for quite some time, maybe ever?” Georgia Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Lisa Janak said.
